Ghirlandina Prize
16 February 2012 No Comments on Ghirlandina PrizeThe Ghirlandina Prize is awarded annually by the 8 Rotary Clubs of the Ghirlandina Group (Modena, Mirandola, Carpi, Sassuolo, Vignola, Frignano, Muratori and Castelvetro) to organisations or young people who have done excellent work for the express benefit of younger generations.
The prize is intended to encourage, support and highlight the merits of meaningful activities carried out in the field of education, culture, science, art, work and any other activity that has achieved particular distinction.
The Prize, this year in its 29th edition, was organised by the Sassuolo club and was awarded to the young Sassuolo-born tenor Matteo Macchioni, who rose to fame when he appeared on the TV programme “Amici” on Canale 5.
The sculpture was created by Dario Tazzioli, who himself won the award in 2005 (again from the Sassuolo Rotary Club).
